Can you use them with zecco or scottrade? Im looking for a way to sell the stock after a certain percentage has been gained. I don't want to use a limit order, stop limit, or trailing stop. Any other ideas?

"a sell limit order can only be executed at the limit price or higher."

Calculate your percentage and then place the limit order as a dollar amount.

 EXAMPLE

I wish to have a 5% "Stop Profit" (your phrase)

 Bought stock at $5.00
 5% * $5.00 = .25
 $5.00 + .25 = $5.25

Thus, place sell limit at $5.25

 Is this what you want?

If you don't want to use a sell limit order you can set an alert for the amount you want, when the price crosses that amount the alert will immediately reach your computer and you can act on it. Downside, you have to be within earshot of the computer at all times during the trading day.

Thanks for your quick responses! I'm sure either of those would work just fine. I just thought there was some other kind of stop i wasn't aware of because when i backtest my filters it automatically sells it at my stop profit. i was just wondering if that was really possible.
