This is the problem w/ playing earnings.
You just don't KNOW if they're gonna be up or down.

Hey - paper trader here.
I am going to wait to see how the earnings come out. If they nail it, the stock will gap up. If they screw it up, it will gap down.
Which ever way it goes, I'll play the fade on the gap a few minutes after the open.
So far today, though, this has not been profitable. I bought the Nov 45.00 puts on FFIV after they crushed earnings, but the stock has slowly drifted up all day. Also bought the Nov 7.50 calls on TQNT after it missed on earnings and fell 20+% in AH. It has slowly drifted downward all morning.
However, I have some time on these to give me a rebound.
BTW, the Nov 18.00 puts on YHOO (I bought 200 @ 0.74, sold later in the day @ 0.84) were up to 1.04 this morning. Trading at about 0.87 right now.

damm i missed its earnings-it wasnt on the list i use-anyway the dead give away is- to loook at the open interest to see if the calls volume before earnings is above the open interest- that means they will have blowout earnings--and they did--Options Get Options for:
